With miles of white sand, warm Gulf water, and incredible sunsets, it’s easy to find your perfect stretch of shoreline in Bonita Springs. And while you really can’t go wrong here, each beach offers something a little different. Here’s our guide to the best beaches in Bonita Springs—and how to choose the right one for your beach day.

Vacationing in Bonita Springs

One of the best parts of vacationing in Bonita Springs is just how close you can stay to the water. Consider booking a stay in a luxury vacation rental along Bonita’s iconic Hickory Blvd. These beachfront homes put the Gulf quite literally outside your door, while homes along the bay offer a quieter waterfront setting just minutes from the sand.

Which Bonita Springs Beach is Best For You?

Bonita Beach Park

Best For: Families · Watersports

turquoise waters along Bonita Beach

Located at the southern tip of Bonita Springs, Bonita Beach Park is the perfect place to breathe in that salty air and sink your toes into pillow-soft sand. Bring your kayak or paddleboard and launch right from the beach. As you glide deeper into the warm Gulf waters where dolphins, manatees, and tropical fish call home, you’ll feel the stress leave your body. Stay out until sunset to watch the sky turn every shade of golden orange you can imagine.

Just steps from the sand is the legendary Doc’s Beach House, a no shoes, no shirt, no problem type of place enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner directly on the beach. Doc’s is also home to Bonita Jet Ski & Parasail, in case your beach day calls for a little more adventure!

Fun Fact: Bonita Beach is also the long-standing nesting ground for Loggerhead Sea Turtles. They return to the area every spring to lay their eggs under the moonlight, so if you visit between May and October, you might even come across a turtle nest or, better yet, spot a glimpse of an adorable baby turtle making its way back to the ocean.

Barefoot Beach Preserve

Best For: Wildlife Sightings · Shelling

Craving a peaceful coastal escape? Barefoot Beach Preserve is 342 acres of natural land, including miles of unspoiled shoreline. Not only is it one of the best beaches in Bonita Springs, but it’s also recognized as one of the top beaches in Florida! Discover pure tranquility as you stand on the shore and let the gentle waves of the Gulf kiss your sandy toes.

Wildlife sightings are part of the magic here—whether you settle in to watch the shorebirds go fishing, or you’re keeping your eyes peeled for a dolphin. If you’re the kind of person who keeps your head down when walking on the beach, you won’t be disappointed! As you go shelling along the shore, see if you can identify some of the native shells like the fighting conch shell, alphabet cone, Florida horse conch, or worm shell.  Barefoot Beach Preserve is also a great place to spot the endangered gopher tortoise. Little Hickory Island Park

Best For: Families · Fishing · Sunsets

The wonder of Little Hickory Island culminates in this isolated stretch of shoreline just off Hickory Blvd. Pack up a picnic lunch to enjoy an afternoon outing with the best view in town. Or bring all your beach gear and set up for a full day in the sun and sand. Cast a line from the shore, build a sandcastle with your kids, or simply bask in the heat of the Florida sun.

Come back around sunset, when the horizon turns shades of orange, pink, and gold. Little Hickory’s quieter setting makes it an especially beautiful place to end a day on the beach.

Lovers Key State Park

Best For: Full-Day Outings · Hiking · Watersports

Plan to spend the day at Lovers Key State Park! With 2.5 miles of gorgeous Gulf shoreline, plus boardwalks, bridges, and some of the softest, untouched sand in the area, you’ll have no problem filling your day with swimming, shelling, paddling, fishing, and wildlife watching. Matt’s Beach Shack offers kayak rentals and suggested kayak routes, paddleboard rentals, fishing equipment, beach chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, and more. There’s also a boat ramp so you can enjoy the park from a whole new vantage point!

Lovers Key is more than a beach! Make sure to give yourself time to explore the multiple hiking and cycling paths as well as the Discovery Center.

Fun Fact: Lovers Key State Park spans across a series of barrier islands, including Lovers Key and Black Island. These islands were formed by sand deposits on the continental shelf, creating a barrier between the Gulf and the shoreline. While the area was heavily affected by Hurricane Ian, it’s still a hot spot for both tourists and locals.
